On the 75th anniversary of the two Asian superpowers’ diplomatic ties, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the significance of deeper collaboration between them. Xi referred to the partnership as a “Dragon-Elephant tango” in a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, signifying peaceful coexistence and mutual advancement.
Peace and stability between India-China
The message is sent at a time when tensions over trade are high worldwide, especially because of US tariffs on Chinese imports. Following a tense military confrontation in 2020, Xi called on both countries to improve communication, coordinate on important international issues, and preserve harmony along their shared Himalayan border.
Easing post-2020 border tensions
Since the conflict in the Galwan Valley, relations between China and India have been tight; however, recent diplomatic contacts suggest that these relations are beginning to de-escalate. To resolve border concerns, both countries have engaged in high-level military and diplomatic discussions.
