Former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner made his acting debut in a Tollywood movie – Robinhood – with a brief cameo appearance of 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Read on to find out what role Warner played in the movie.
David Warner, an Indian Premier League (IPL) fan favorite and recently retired Australian batter, made his acting debut in Robinhood, appearing in a cameo in the Telugu movie. The film, which was directed by Venky Kudumula and was out on March 28, 2025, featured the Australian for a total of just two minutes and fifty seconds.
For his essentially inconsequential role in the movie, former Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner received an incredible ₹3 crore, according to an HT report. According to a number of publications, the southpaw played a little part for the Delhi Capitals during the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Warner plays a drug dealer in the film, which also has Nithiin and Sreeleela in the key roles. However, many fans were not pleased with his brief appearance. Due to his lengthy affiliation with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Venky Kudumula is a favorite among fans in south India. According to reports, he stated that the Australian batter’s cameo will enhance the film.
Moviegoers’ reviews, however, indicate that his character did not have much of an impact on the film.
David Warner in Robinhood
There were expectations that the Australian would play a greater part in the film because David Warner is well-liked in Hyderabad, the home of Tollywood. Given that he enjoys dancing to Telugu music, the videos of which are posted on his social media accounts, many admirers even anticipated that he would perform a special dance routine.
Fan’s reaction on David Warner’s acting debut
“Very disappointed with David Warner cameo in Robinhood,” one fan even said on X. Warner might have made a bigger impression if he had been given at least 10 minutes of screen time while listening to a catchy tune.
Another user made fun of Warner’s movie charge. “#Robinhood” had a cameo by David Warner. Shoot days: two days; duration: two minutes and fifty seconds; compensation: two and a half crores. “Took ₹1.25CR per day, one of the most expensive cameos in Indian cinema,” the user stated.
