Users in India are experiencing disruptions in UPI transactions, and problems with payments have been reported on Google Pay, Paytm, and other financial apps. According to Downdetector, outage complaints that impacted transactions, fund transfers, and login access surged in the evening. The outage irritated users who relied on these apps for routine transactions.
Wednesday night saw a rise in complaints; the outage graph revealed a sudden increase of more than 23,000 complaints around 7:00 PM.
Google Pay users most frequently experienced payment failures (72%), website problems (14%), and app problems (14%), according to DownDetector. Users of Paytm likewise experienced disruptions; 86% of complaints were about payments, while 9% and 6%, respectively, were about login and purchase problems.
Banking services were also hampered, with the State Bank of India (SBI) reporting fund transfer failures (47%), mobile banking issues (37%), and online banking disruptions (16%). In total, unsuccessful payments accounted for 84% of UPI-related complaints.
