Redington Surges on iPhone Sales: iPhone 18 Pro Launch Boosts Apple Distributor in India

Redington surges on iPhone sales as Apple’s latest premium smartphones officially reached Indian customers on September 18, putting the spotlight on one of the country’s major Apple distribution partners.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max went on sale across India on Friday through Apple’s online and retail channels, authorised third-party retailers and select quick-commerce platforms. Redington, an authorised supply-chain and logistics distributor for Apple products in India, saw its shares rise as the new devices entered the market.

Redington Shares Rise as iPhone 18 Pro Sales Begin

Redington shares climbed for a third consecutive session on September 18, reaching an intraday high of ₹413.20, representing a gain of more than 3% during the session, according to Business Standard.

The movement came as the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max became available for purchase across the country.

Redington plays an important role in Apple’s distribution network in India, meaning higher demand for the latest iPhones can translate into increased wholesale and distribution activity for the company.

However, market analysts have also highlighted the importance of tracking actual sales volumes before drawing conclusions about the longer-term financial impact.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Go on Sale in India

Apple began sales of the new premium models on September 18 following the opening of pre-orders on September 12.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900 in India. Higher-storage configurations push the prices substantially higher, with the Pro Max reaching ₹3,29,900 at the top end.

The devices are available through Apple’s own retail and online channels, major authorised retailers and selected quick-commerce platforms.

The launch has also generated visible consumer interest, with reports of customers arriving early at Apple stores in cities including Delhi, Noida, Mumbai and Bengaluru.

Why Redington Benefits From Apple’s Premium Push

Redington’s connection to Apple’s distribution ecosystem makes the company an important beneficiary when demand for premium Apple hardware increases.

The distributor supplies Apple products across its network, meaning the launch of a major iPhone generation can increase movement through its distribution channels.

The current iPhone cycle is particularly significant because Apple has positioned the new Pro models at premium price points while also expanding its product portfolio with the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone.

The foldable model, however, is scheduled to go on sale in India later, on October 23.

Premiumization Supports India’s Smartphone Market

The iPhone 18 Pro launch comes as India’s smartphone market continues to see greater consumer interest in premium devices.

Premiumization refers to consumers moving toward more expensive smartphones, often prioritising camera capabilities, processing power, software features, design and brand ecosystem over entry-level pricing.

Apple has increasingly benefited from this trend in India, where its premium devices command a significant share of consumer attention despite their higher prices.

The latest iPhone generation reinforces that strategy, with the Pro models carrying substantially higher prices than their predecessors.

iPhone 18 Pro Prices Are Significantly Higher

The pricing of Apple’s latest Pro models has attracted particular attention.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 compared with ₹1,34,900 for the previous-generation iPhone 17 Pro, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max begins at ₹1,79,900 compared with ₹1,49,900 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

That represents increases of roughly 22% and 20%, respectively, at the entry level.

Despite the higher prices, the first-day launch has seen substantial consumer interest, although analysts have cautioned that the effect of higher prices on actual unit volumes will need to be assessed over time.

New Features Target Premium Buyers

The iPhone 18 Pro series comes with Apple’s latest hardware and software upgrades.

The devices feature the A20 Pro chip, upgraded camera capabilities and an 18-megapixel front-facing camera. The Pro models also introduce improvements designed to support photography, video recording, artificial intelligence features and overall performance.

The Pro Max offers up to 43 hours of video playback, while both models are available in multiple storage configurations ranging from 256GB to 2TB.

These specifications are designed to appeal to consumers willing to pay more for flagship-level performance and features.

Redington’s Stronger Financial Base

The iPhone launch comes after a strong first quarter for Redington in fiscal 2027.

According to market data, Redington reported ₹34,922 crore in revenue from operations for the April-June quarter, representing a 35% increase from ₹25,952 crore in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Its consolidated profit after tax increased 77% to ₹486 crore, while EBITDA rose 76% to ₹707 crore.

The performance provides additional context for why the company’s exposure to major technology brands and premium electronics remains important to investors and the broader distribution sector.

Apple Ecosystem Expands Beyond the iPhone

The iPhone 18 Pro launch is only one part of Apple’s broader product expansion in India.

Alongside the new iPhones, Apple has also made the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 available in the Indian market.

The company’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is expected to arrive later in October.

For distributors such as Redington, a wider Apple hardware portfolio can create additional opportunities across smartphones, wearables, accessories and other connected devices.

Quick-Commerce Adds a New Sales Channel

Another notable development in the latest iPhone launch is the expansion of quick-commerce distribution.

The new iPhone models have been listed on platforms including Blinkit, while Zepto and Swiggy’s Instamart have also offered the devices at select locations.

This gives consumers additional purchasing options beyond traditional Apple stores and electronics retailers.

For distributors, the expansion of sales channels could potentially improve product availability and broaden the reach of premium Apple devices.

What the iPhone Launch Means for Redington

The immediate market reaction indicates that investors are watching the iPhone 18 cycle closely.

Strong demand could support distribution volumes for Redington, while Apple’s expanding premium portfolio could provide additional opportunities through future product launches.

At the same time, the higher prices of the latest Pro models create an important question around the relationship between value growth and unit growth.

SBI Securities analyst Sunny Agrawal said the new iPhone sales should be positive for wholesale distributors such as Redington, while noting that the premium pricing could create challenges for both value and volume growth. He said actual sales numbers will be important in assessing the impact.

Looking Ahead

The Redington surges on iPhone sales story highlights how Apple’s product launches can influence companies beyond the technology giant itself.

With the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max now available in India, Redington stands to benefit from distribution activity surrounding the new premium models. Apple’s growing product ecosystem, including the upcoming iPhone Duo, could provide additional opportunities.

However, the ultimate impact on Redington’s business will depend on actual iPhone demand, sales volumes, pricing and the company’s distribution performance over the coming quarters.

The September 18 launch therefore marks an important point for both Apple’s premium smartphone strategy in India and Redington’s role in bringing those products to the country’s growing base of premium-device consumers.
