On March 20, Yuzvendra Chahal and his estranged wife, Dhanashree Verma, were granted a divorce by the Bandra Family Court. The six-month cooling-off period in their case was waived at the couple’s request, and their attorney stated that the separation was finalized based on a joint petition filed by the pair with mutual consent. Although Chahal and Verma have not disclosed the cause of their breakup, rumors indicate that Mumbai was a significant factor.
According to a source close to the pair, senior entertainment journalist Vickey Lalwani disclosed that Chahal and Verma “never truly got along” because of their dissimilar personalities.
He added that one of the main reasons his parents apparently decided to split up was that Chahal did not want to move away from them, whilst Verma wanted to move to Mumbai.
Following their marriage, Yuzi and Dhanashree moved to Haryana to live with Yuzi’s parents, only visiting Mumbai when absolutely necessary. Indeed, the Mumbai-Haryana jhagda was a major factor in the dissolution of this highly publicized marriage. Vickey Lalwani posted on Instagram, “Yuzi was adamant that he would not leave his parents’ house and surroundings.”
